Tribal folks of India consider Mahua as a Boon and conserve this tree. It is the largest source of natural hard fat in India. This fat is widely used for in the manufacturing of soap. Oil extracted from the seeds is used as an ointment, as it has antiinflammatory properties and helps in controlling the joint pain. This oil is also used for culinary purpose. It has antibacterial and antifungal properties. It also possesses aphrodisiac properties.
